When I first heard this song, I had only heard Third Eye Blind’s version and not Beyonce’s. So to my surprise, when I finally took a listen to her eponymous album released in 2013, I found out that “Mine” is originally hers. While Beyonce’s version is R&B tinged with piano backing, smooth vocals and a feature from Drake, Third Eye Blind’s version is backed by an acoustic guitar and piano, providing us with a more stripped version. Even though they’re sonically different, the melodies and energy behind the song stay exactly the same. Whichever version you’re feeling, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
