Third Eye Blind – Blue

As far as 90s alternative rock is concerned, Third Eye Blind is hands down the epitome of the genre and easily one of the most influential bands of the era. They essentially made their own subgenre within the genre and completely separated themselves from the competition. The best part about it was, nobody could do TEB better than TEB. Nobody else could come close to their signature sound which consisted of an upbeat, guitar driven sound coupled with dismal lyrics that easily make listeners do a double take. Their self titled debut a few years prior to Blue was exceptional and still holds up to this day as one of the greatest albums of all time and although I don’t find this to one to have the same level of charisma as it’s predecessor, it still has a lot to offer. Blue’s best moments can be found in songs that sound like they should have been included on their debut and normally I would find that repetitive. But the level of precision the group had at the time was completely unmatched and with these songs they really created their own space in the music industry.
