A few years back, Taylor Swift covered Earth, Wind, and Fire’s iconic song “September” and while some weren’t so pleased, I found it to be fantastic. If we’re being real here, “September” is a pretty hard song to completely butcher and with Taylor’s obvious musical ability, I think it goes without saying that, no matter what, it’s going to be a pretty solid track. The well known original is funky and energetic, but her take on it reminds me of the Speak Now era (which also happens to be one of my favorites from her). It starts off with a banjo and is mainly built on just some acoustics and features soft background vocals to fill the spaces in between. Although it’s heavily stripped down, Taylor’s version of the song still contains just as much fun and excitement as the original, with a slight romantic feel to it that makes it feels fresh and new.
